Worcester Fire Officials Want to Stress Importance of Working Smoke Alarms

There have been have two fatal house fires in Worcester this year, after four years without the city seeing any. On Monday, Worcester fire officials and local leaders will gather at 76 Paine Street to discuss the importance of working fire alarms and to provide safety measures that can save lives and reduce the amount of risks that firefighters may have to face.
Worcester Fire Chief Gerard Dio, and WFD Lt. Annmarie Picket will join Mayor Joe Petty, City Councilors Phil Palmieri and Morris Bergman, City Manager Ed Augustus, and Neal Zisper, the Community Affairs Manager of Kidde Fire Safety, to outline efforts the WFD is taking to help improve fire safety.
Kidde Fire Safety will be donating 150 of its Worry Free smoke alarms and 50 carbon monoxide alarms - both of which contain sealed batteries that last for 10 years.
The discussion will begin at 3:30 PM at 76 Paine Street, Worcester.
