Giorgio: What’s Behind Giuliani’s Obama Attack?

Wednesday, February 25, 2015

The latest attack on President Obama by former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani is just another blatant attempt by the right wingers in this country to paint the President as different.

They are now questioning the President’s love for America. Prior to this, they tried to attack him on being foreign born. The so-called Birthers led by another New Yorker, Donald Trump had to give up that line of attack, when the President produced his birth certificate. Others on the right wing claimed he was a Muslim, as if religion has anything to do with anything. They attacked John Kennedy almost 60 years ago for being Catholic.

What is behind this latest attack? It’s all about politics and the 2016 election. You see if they can continue to demonize the President, it may help the Republican chances to win the Presidency in 2016 and thus they will control all of government.

What Giuliani said?

Here is what Giuliani said at a private fundraiser in New York City last week about the President: ““He doesn’t love you. And he doesn’t love me. He wasn’t brought up the way you were brought up and I was brought up through love of this country.” That is clearly more code by the right wing. What exactly does Giuliani mean? Was he referring to the fact the President’s father was African and his mother white? Was he playing into the “Obama is really a Muslim” game? I think he was and I believe it is because the President is Black.

Unlike the right wing of this country, I have only one president at a time and while I hope he or she is a democrat, whatever party the present belong to, he is still my president. Maybe Giuliani needs to start thinking about American and not about the Republican Party.

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, a leading GOP candidate for President added fuel to the fire by saying that “He did not know if President Obama loves America or if he is Christian”.

This is just silly on Walker’s part.

This has been the constant refrain since the President was elected. What the Republicans haven’t quite figured out yet is that Americans are tired of their stupid rhetoric. After all they elected Obama president twice.

Congressman Daryl Issa of California, a Republican House leader piled on this Sunday keeping up the attack on the President.

Walker not ready for Prime Time.

This was not a slip of the tongue by the former bully mayor of New York, who disgraced himself while in office. This was no idle remark by Issa,

And Scott Walker is certainly not ready for prime time. Why would Walker remark that he didn’t know if Obama was Christian? This is clearly an organized line of attack.

I believe President Obama loves this country and its people. He may love the poor more than he loves the Koch Brothers. He may love the middle class more than he loves the super-rich. He may love the people of MoveOn.org more than he loves the members of the NRA. But non-the-less he does love America.

Obama’s policies have saved America.

It was his economic policy that ended the Bush era great recession and turned America around, so that the stock market is in record territory. It was his economic policy that has driven the unemployment rate down. It is his policy initiatives that are helping the middle class. It was President Obama who passed healthcare reform. He would not have accomplished all this, if he did not love America.

Maybe it is the Republicans who don’t love all of America. It is the Republicans and Giuliani who appear to only love the white super rich America.

It is time that we end these scurrilous unprecedented attacks on an American president. It does nothing to further America’s agenda. It only hurts America. And everyone knows you shouldn’t hurt the one you love.
