West Boylston Voters Oust Incumbent Selectmen

Wednesday, June 06, 2012

Voters in West Boylston ousted both incumbent Selectmen, choosing John Hadley and Michael Kittredge instead.  Incumbent selectmen Allen Phillips and Steve Quist were both denied in their bids for re-election.

Kittredge was the top vote getter in the Selectman's race, with 600 votes; Hadley received 591votes; Phillips received 391 and Quist received 164.

"I want to thank everyone who voted for me, and for who stood outside and held signs for me," Kittredge said.

Hadley also expressed appreciation to the voters.  "It was a great experience - I want to thank my wife and son and everyone who voted for me," he said.

School Committee

Jim Pedone

In the three way race for two open seats for School Committee, voters elected Jim Pedone and Erin Palumbo, turning back John Riley.  Palumbo was the top vote getter, with 494 votes.  Pedone received 494 votes and Riley received 433.

"I look forward to serving the town," Pedone said.  "I want to thank my wife and family and friends who voted for me."

Town Clerk

Incumbent Town Clerk Kim Hopewell decisively defeated challenger Erin Cosgrove, 738 to 185.

"I want to thank the voters for standing by me," Hopewell said.  "I will continue to strive to a better job for the town.  I'm always open to suggestions on how to improve."

Editor's Note:  Due to an error by the town clerk, this story was originally published with the following vote totals: Palumbo, 573; Pedone, 494; Riley, 433; Hopewell, 738; Cosgrove 185.  The outcomes of the races did not change as a result of the error.
