New England Pair Notch Season-Best In Sochi
Saturday, February 08, 2014
The pair of Simon Shnapir and Marissa Castelli took the ice for the first time in the Sochi Winter Games. The pair both hail from New England with Shnapir being from Sudbury, Massachusetts and Castelli coming from Providence, Rhode Island. The pair took the ice on day two of the team skating competition and notched a season-best score of 117.94.
The season-best helped the United States grab a critical seven points and keeping them on the podium with one more day of team skating competition left. Although Shnapir and Castelli are done with the team competition, they will compete again in both the pairs short program, starting February 11, and the pairs free skating, starting February 12.
