Toronto Blue Jays Designate Assumption’s Colabello for Assignment

Wednesday, February 04, 2015

According to MLBTradeRumors.com, the Toronto Blue Jays have designated former Assumption College and Worcester Tornado star Chris Colabello for assignment to make room on their 40-man roster for newly acquired pitcher Jayson Aquino.

Colabello was claimed by the Blue Jays in December after being released by the Minnesota Twins.

The Blue Jays will now have ten days to do one of four things: place Colabello on waivers, trade him, release him, or outright him to the minor leagues.

Last season, Colabello got off to a hot start in April with the Twins when he batted .295 and drove in 27 runs. He wound up hitting .229 with six home runs and 37 RBIs.

In 629 Triple-A appearances, Colabello has a .319/.393/.574 batting line with 34 homers.
