When the crocuses are up, you know it's time for spring fashion, and that means events. Mark your calendars for these fashion festivities. Hint: many of these are free.

If you haven't shopped the classically delightful boutique in Boston's Beacon Hill & South End, not to mention the tony quarters of Wellesley, Concord, & Nantucket, you're in for a surprise. Thursday March 31: Spring Has Sprung at Valentini Gallery, Providence

FREE. 6-9pm. Sip cocktails and preview the Spring/Summer 2011 accessories collections of hot local designer Andrea Valentini, at her studio on Allens Avenue in Providence. Friday April 1: Bras for a Cause Fundraiser at Twin Rivers, Lincoln

$30 in advance, $35 at the door. 6-10pm. It's, well, as fashion show of sorts, for a fantastic cause, the Gloria Gemma Foundation. Watch brave male members of the WCR of Greater Providence/Northern RI walk the catwalk in, yes, brassieres. It's the first annual event to raise funds for breast cancer research and services. Thursday April 7: Glam Girl Gathering at Gloss & Glamour, North Providence

Saturday April 16: Fashion Show and Tea Benefit for Jonnycake Center and Unitarian Universalist Church at Lilypads, Peace Dale

$25. 3-5pm. It's a genteel Saturday afternoon fashion show featuring looks from South County spots One More Time and Chameleons, plus a traditional tea. And all for a wonderful South County cause. Thursday April 28: Dress for Success RI "A Night in Style" Fashion Show at Providence Biltmore

$50 VIP includes goodie bag, $35 general admission. Cocktails 6:30pm, fashion show at 8:30pm Check out the spring fashion trends from Ann Taylor, silent auction items, and signature hors d'oeuvres from The Biltmore. Proceeds benefit Dress for Success Rhode Island, a leading organization offering services designed to help underprivileged women find jobs and remain employed. Friday, May 6: An Evening With Nicole Miller - A Fashionable Gala, at the Chace Center, RISD Museum

More fantastic tie-ins with RISD's upcoming Cocktail Culture exhibit, this time a truly fashionable night of dancers from Festival Ballet modeling the works of one of RISD's most well-known and celebrated apparel designers, Nicole Miller (who will be in attendance).
