Cocktails to Raise Funds for Dress for Success, StyleWeek Providence

Saturday, January 15, 2011

While runway shows, fashion events and après show parties surround StyleWeek Providence’s schedule, the week-long event adopts a philanthropic ethos during this sophomore effort by suiting up with the Rhode Island Chapter of Dress for Success for a joint fundraiser that will benefit local women in need. The well-known international non-profit organization provides interview suits, confidence boosts, and career development to low-income women in over 75 cities worldwide. Following StyleWeek’s nightly shows, specialty cocktail drinks will be sold at the after-event soirees with all proceeds going to StyleWeek Providence and Dress for Success Rhode Island. Held at various venues throughout Providence, the after-event soirees are open to the public.

Planting the Seed of Success

“We are thrilled to be partnering with StyleWeek Providence,” said Terri Stone, the recently appointed president of the board for Dress for Success Rhode Island. “StyleWeek Providence and Dress for Success are such empowering non-profit organizations and it’s an honor to be a part of this exciting week-long celebration.” Dress for Success Rhode Island is planning a fashion show in the spring of 2011 chaired by Dress for Success Corporate Style Liaison, Margaret Batting, owner of Eleve, and personal stylist Jill Marinelli. Dress for Success RI holds monthly meetings and welcomes new volunteers to help disadvantaged women dress for success. For more information, visit www.dressforsuccessri.org
