City of Worcester Announces Free Business Workshops
Thursday, September 11, 2014
The program is a series of seven free workshops beginning on September 15th through November 3rd. The workshops will take place on Monday evenings from 6-8pm at the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce at 446 Main St.
“The workshop series put on by the City of Worcester was a great help to myself and other small business owners. It took us out of our businesses for a few hours each week to take the time and learn how to improve our businesses,” said Miriam Hyder of Ed Hyder’s Mediterranean Marketplace, who participated in last year’s program. “So often we get caught up in the day to day operation, and cannot set aside the time to focus on the long term plans of our businesses. I was also able to build friendships with other small business owners. I would highly recommend this program to any small business owner in Worcester.”
The program is targeted to Worcester retailers, storefront businesses, and restaurant owners and seeks to help those owners bring their business to the next level by improving their management practices. The workshops will be facilitated by industry experts and include topics related to marketing, operations, finances, and more.
“Small businesses are the foundation of any strong local economy,” said Worcester City Manager Edward Augustus. “The Retail Business Enhancement Program, by providing free advice and training from qualified experts, is another way the city can assist the owners of those businesses. I am excited we can offer this program to help support the vital role small businesses play in out community.”
