iPad 2 Announcement Presents Opportunity for RI Business Leaders

Thursday, March 03, 2011

The introduction of the new Apple iPad 2 today in Silicon Valley is sure to create a buzz among loyal Apple users and local business leaders alike. It has been over a year since Apple unveiled its first tablet, and with this second generation iPad comes a ton of new features and options.

Notable new features for the iPad 2 include: dual-core processors with 2x faster CPU, up to 9x faster graphics, and a 1/3 thinner and lighter design than the previous model. Front and rear facing cameras will support FaceTime, a popular “video conference call” function that can be very useful for on-the-run businessmen. The iPad 2 will ship on March 11th and will be available in either black or white. 3g coverage options will be available from both AT&T and Verizon.

The iPad presents a tremendous opportunity for an increase in productivity for local businesspeople and corporate office workers all around the world.

Business Leaders

"It's a convenient tool to gather news and information for his business," said Mike Costello, a managing partner at Endurance Wealth Management based in Providence. “I am able to distribute PDF files, emails and contact information all in one spot,” he said, stressing its ease of use.

Daniel Pritsker of the Providence Diamond Company uses his own iPad app as a database for his company to order products directly from its vendors. “Using the iPad, high quality Hearts on Fire diamonds can be customized to cater to exactly what our customers want right in front of them, which really speeds up the sale process,” said Pritsker. “It eliminates phone calls for new product orders, and makes the buying process portable so that the customer can see every available option right in front of them.”

John Carnevale, President & CEO of Boston based Sentinel Benefits & Financial Group, with offices in Rumford, has been using the iPad for the past six months now. “I recently attended a conference of business leaders and was amazed by the number of iPad users in the age 45 to 55 marketplace,” Carnevale said. “We shared apps that each thought were business worthy and I am now considering getting iPads for my Senior Management Team.”

Devices like this will soon mark the end of traditional “brick and mortar” sales tactics which are becoming less and less effective as the new age of E-commerce and multi-media business applications take over. Business managers and entrepreneurs are using these multimedia devices to their fullest potential by looking to increase efficiency and productivity in their work.
