Charlotte Klein Dance Center Announces Sale

Tuesday, August 20, 2013

Charlotte Klein Dance Centers' new owner Rachel Rubin.

Charlotte Klein Dance Centers recently announced the sale of one of Central Massachusetts’ most recognized names in dance education. Effective immediately, Rachel Rubin of Worcester is the new owner and director of the Charlotte Klein Dance Centers located in Worcester and Westborough. Former owners Charlotte and Ben Klein will remain on during the transition period to ensure a smooth transition.

The Charlotte Klein Dance Centers, located in Central Massachusetts, have been a well-established name in the field of dance locally in New England and nationally over the past 60 years. Under the direction of esteemed dance educator Charlotte Klein, the studio has offered a complete program of dance education from Pre-School to Pre-Professional in spacious, well-equipped studios at 1122 Pleasant Street in Worcester and at Westmeadow Plaza in Westboro. The Dance Centers offer beginning to advanced level dance training in Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Modern and Hip-Hop.

Over the years, the Charlotte Klein Dance Center has become an institution that all of Massachusetts can be proud of.

In fact, in a ceremony marking her 45th teaching anniversary of commitment to her students and the dance community, Charlotte Klein was awarded an official proclamation from the State of Massachusetts. In his speech following the presentation, Representative Jim McGovern stated, "Some people refer to Charlotte as an institution, but I choose to call her a treasure"

Charlotte promises the Dance Center will remain in good hands.

“It is with great pleasure and even a greater sense of pride that we announce that Rachel Rubin is the new owner and director of the Charlotte Klein Dance Centers of Worcester and Westborough,” stated Charlotte Klein.

“Rachel has quite a history with our Centers, first enrolling as a student when she was three years old, advancing to become a member of our Dance Company in her high school years and coming back as a teacher and manager as an adult. I can’t think of a more qualified person to transition the business to and I have every confidence that Rachel will be most successful,” she added.

In addition to her training at the Charlotte Klein Dance Centers, Ms. Rubin continued her dance education at Dean College, where she earned a Degree in Dance with a minor in Business. After graduation she was co-owner of a dance studio in Mendon, MA where she gained experience running a dance business before joining the team at Charlotte Klein Dance Centers.

“It is such an honor to be able to continue the excellence that has been established here at the Charlotte Klein Dance Centers, said Rubin. “I couldn’t be more excited and look forward to adding to the legacy that has been nurtured over the past 60 years,” she added.

Ms. Rubin is a member of the board of directors of the New England Chapter of Dance Masters of America.

The Charlotte Klein Dance Center name will not be changed.
