NEW: Constance Howes of W&I named 2011 Bryant NE Businesswoman of the Year

Constance A. Howes, president and chief executive officer of Women & Infants Hospital, today was named the 2011 Bryant University New England Businesswoman of the Year. The award was presented during Bryant University’s 14th annual Women’s Summit.

Howes worked as an attorney with Tillinghast, Collins & Graham for 17 years before joining Women & Infants as vice president and general counsel. She then was named vice president and general counsel for the Care New England Health System that includes Women & Infants, Kent and Butler hospitals. She also has served as Women & Infants’ executive vice president and chief operating officer.

She serves on many community and professional boards, including the National Institutes of Health Cimmittee on Research on Women’s Health and the Innovation Providence Implementation Committee, which she co-chairs.
