United Way of Central Mass Announces Campaign Co-Chairs

Friday, July 12, 2013

Erik G. Wexler

Erik G. Wexler, President and CEO of Saint Vincent Hospital, and Attorney John Spillane of Spillane & Spillane, LLP, will lead the United Way of Central Massachusetts campaign this year.

Both Erik and John bring a wealth of knowledge to these volunteer roles. Erik has been the Chief Executive Officer and President of Saint Vincent Hospital since July 2011. Under his leadership, Saint Vincent Hospital has been recognized for two years in a row as one of the nation's Top 100 Hospitals® by Thomson Reuters.

“I am thrilled to help lead this critical campaign that helps many of us, not only those in need, but members of our community that access charitable services for the betterment of our lives. The United Way has a long and rich history of providing funding to agencies with careful evaluation of their programs and services. It’s a pleasure for me to be a part of this effort and to inspire others to give for the good of us all,” said Eric Wexler.

John Spillane

John W. Spillane is the Senior Partner of Spillane & Spillane LLP and has been a practicing attorney since 1957. For 56 years, John has been providing legal advice and representation to small businesses and individuals throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

“I am very excited to lead the United Way of Central Massachusetts 2013 Campaign with Erik. I am impressed with the great number of existing United Way business partners that have made substantial and continuing investments in our communities. I look forward to working with them in this most important effort to build further capacity in providing for crucial community needs,” said John Spillane.

Annually, the United Way campaign raises nearly $6,000,000 from corporate, individual, and foundation support. Partnering with 185 companies and more than 60,000 employees, this annual campaign enables United Way to connect people to resources to ensure that the most vulnerable among us have a safety net to stabilize them today, while working to break the cycle of poverty for the next generation. The local businesses, leaders, residents, and employees that participate in this annual campaign demonstrate that when we LIVE UNITED, working together, we can meet the needs of our neighbors today and provide hope for tomorrow.
