In Worcester, the meatball sandwich argument is something that could probably go on forever. The Shrewsbury Street area seems to have a tight grip on the meatball sandwich industry. All five places on this list are within less than two and a half miles from one another. 

An important reason for this is the strong Italian-American presence in the area of Belmont Street, Shrewsbury Street and Plantation Street. These places know how to make a great meatball and how to sandwich it between two warm pieces of Italian bread, some provolone cheese and some delicious gravy.
