It has been said that the holiday season brings out the best in people. The same can be said about draft beers. With the holiday season in full swing, many local bars and restaurants are promoting seasonal beers from all over New England and they're trying to get the best possible lineup of beers to attract the most diverse of crowds.

"People love seasonal beers because it puts you in the mood to embrace the cold weather and just enjoy the season. The winter seasonals warm you up. It's kind of a tradition. Some people like eggnog, while others look forward to a winter stout or lager," said Pamela Martin, a bartender at the Compass Tavern. "If people know you have a selection of seasonal beers, they stay a little bit longer after dinner."

Consistent favorites in the city include Wormtown's Wintah Ale, Harpoon Winter Warmer, Sam Adams Winter Lager, and Wachusett Winter Ale. Places like the Boynton, Armsby Abbey, Brew City and the Dive Bar, have unique and potent craft seasonal beers including Troegs Mad Elf Belgian Strong Ale, Smuttynose Smistletoe, and Berkshire Holidale.

In Worcester, there are plenty of great places to have a cold beer. However, some stand out more than the others.
