#EmbraceLife Event Hopes to Promote a Safer Worcester

Tuesday, September 29, 2015

On October 10, nonprofit #EmbraceLife will host a celebration at Institute Park to show Worcester that there are organizations available to residents and businesses for help, guidance, and assistance.

The event, which will feature live local entertainment, food vendors and artists, will run from 11 AM to 5 PM.

According to #EmbraceLife Founder and CEO, Jose Mirabal, Jr, "unity that there are organizations like ours available to them for help, guidance, and assistance. Since the spring of 2015, the city of Worcester and its residence have found themselves in the midst of a gang war including numerous shootings and fatalities, prompting action from state and local law enforcement. #EmbraceLife hopes to be a light in this dark time for the communities that want to see change in their parks, schools, and their city as a whole. We want to set an example and show people in the community that there is more to life than guns, drugs, and violence. We want them to see the good that people can do and achieve."

Mirabal hopes the event will allow local business owners and entrepreneurs to promote their products and services. "It could give them a chance that has not been given to them by anyone else," Mirabal wrote in a released statement.
