Free Admission for Dad at Fruitlands Museum

Saturday, June 16, 2012

In honor of Father’s Day, all dads will be admitted free to the Fruitlands Museum in Harvard on Sunday, June 17.

“We like to recognize all that parents do throughout the year, but Mother’s Day and Father’s Day are special occasions at Fruitlands,” said Maggie Green, director of education and public programming. “And for parents, it’s just a great day to bring the family, enjoy the galleries, and take advantage of our sprawling grounds here – and dogs are always welcome!”

With a variety of galleries that showcase Native American, Shaker art as well as paintings from the Hudson River School, as well as walking trails and a new café, the Fruitlands Museum has something for everything.

Green said the Sunday brunch is prepares with locally grown ingredients, and has already become very popular.

“However people should know picnics from home are always allowed and are a popular option with families as well,” said Green.

“The outdoor sculptures by our Artist-in-Residence, Andy Moerlein, have been a big hit with families so far this season,” said Green. “His interaction of art and nature is a unique experience here at Fruitlands that all ages can appreciate – and take part in creating on upcoming hands-on community art experience days. Family fun goes all summer at Fruitlands, so be sure to inquire further!”

The Fruitlands Museum is open every day except Tuesday.
