GETTING OUT: Central MA’s Hot Karaoke Spots

Thursday, October 18, 2012

I do not personally enjoy intentionally embarrassing myself in front of a large group of people, no matter how much I've had to drink. But, for some people, Karaoke can be an extremely fun and entertaining addition to a night out. Whether you want to hang out and have a laugh with your friends during the week, or have a night to remember on the weekend, there will surely be a place available to fit your individual Karaoke needs. Here are just a few places in Central Mass you may wish to check out.

Classic's Pub, Leominster
285 Central Street
Classic's Pub is a classy little Martini and Piano Bar serving Leominster and the rest of North Central Mass. There are karaoke sessions Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays from 9 pm to 1am, along with other forms of live entertainment five nights a week. With over 150,000 songs to choose from you'll be sure to find something to fit your tastes. Of course, if you need a little liquid courage before heading up on stage, there is a terrific selection of martinis, wines, and domestic beers and ales to aid your efforts.

Ralph's Rock Diner, Worcester
148 Grove Street
Ralph's Rock Diner has been featured a few times in various GoLocal stories because it is just that good. In addition to featuring great live hard rock and heavy metal acts and a terrific selection of beer, every Wednesday the Diner features its celebrated "Big Game Karaoke" night from 9:30 pm until close. Join Jeff and Audra of Ralph's as you compete in various games and contests and try to win some great prizes. Also join in some trivia. A possible prize includes $50 in "Bar Money" that can be redeemed at Ralph's, Nick's, or Vincent's.

Cafe Neo, Worcester
97 Millbury Street
If you're looking for a cozy little dive bar to show off your underappreciated vocal abilities, Cafe Neo is right for you, 7 nights a week. (It is a personal favorite of mine and actually the only place I've ever actually sung in public.) They bring the book full of songs from every genre you can think of right out to you; choose which song you want to sing, write your name on a slip of paper, and wait to be called. Sing alone or with a bunch of friends. The set-up is very professional and the beer is cheap. Take it from me.

The Mill Restaurant & Lounge, West Boylston
185 West Boylston Street
If you want to sing some Karaoke after a having a scrumptious sit-down dinner on a Wednesday night, there is no better place than the Mill. Karaoke runs from 8pm to 11pm and is great for anyone college age or above. Make it a night out with the family. Beforehand, enjoy some drinks from the $5 menu at the bar, available from 4pm to 6pm. Drinks include Sangria, a House Cosmo and House Martinis. Come other nights as well to enjoy live blues and acoustic music.

Fiddler's Green, Worcester
19 Temple Street
Come to Fiddler's Green Community Pub and Restaurant every Saturday starting October 27th to enjoy "Karaoke with Greg" from 8:30 pm to 12:30 am. Fiddler's Green is part of the Worcester Hibernarian Cultural Centre which often features musical performances and plays. The Pub itself is an authentic Irish pub and also often features live music. Also, look out for a couple of Halloween parties coming up. Check out the place if you want to plan a birthday party, wedding, banquet, or any other function.
