Hot Power Yoga Coming to Worcester

Thursday, December 18, 2014

Thursday marks the Grand Opening of Hot Power Yoga in Worcester. Kristin Caforio-Marengo, Worcester native and owner of Hot Power Yoga, is bringing plenty of experience with her and knows what it takes to be successful.

While being general manager of Prana Power Yoga in New York City for seven years, Caforio-Marengo enjoyed being close with her yoga students and enjoyed communicating with them on a daily basis. "I loved answering emails and being the face of the business. Helping students and teachers become a community is very rewarding. I knew that I wanted to one day move back to Worcester and open my own studio here when I was ready to move away from NYC," said Caforio-Marengo.

Caforio-Marengo Bringing Back Years of Experience to Worcester

During her time in New York, Caforio-Marengo's yoga class was rated one of the ten best yoga classes in the city for Time Out NYC Magazine. She was also recently featured in Cosmopolitan Magazine's November issue. She was also in the film 'Creative Control' and was the head of the yoga program at NYU.

Caforio-Marengo grew up dancing at Joann Warren Dance Studio. In 1999, she left Worcester to begin a career as a dancer. Her first gig was as Grover on Sesame Street Live. She continued with a series of dance tours, cruise ship contracts and shows in NYC. Following a back injury, Caforio-Marengo found yoga.

"Through yoga my injuries healed and it fascinated me. I then wanted to learn more about the practice. Yoga was primarily physical, but quickly became a mental practice as well. I started to notice that I was more easy going and less stressed on days I practiced yoga. It became an entire lifestyle change for me that I wanted to pass on to others," said Caforio-Marengo.

Hot Power Yoga

According to Caforio-Marengo, the prices at Hot Power Yoga will be significantly lower than other yoga studios in the area. "I was shocked to see that other studios had the same prices as NYC does. I keep my prices low without compromising the yoga or the experience," said Caforio-Marengo.

The instructors at Hot Power Yoga are trained to teach classes for all level. Caforio-Marengo said, "Our instructors are non-judgmental and are always smiling. It doesn't matter if you take class for the first time or if you practice every day, our teachers are trained to take students to the variation of pose that fits their need. We wish to make yoga accessible to everyone."

Caforio-Marengo moved back to Worcester this year with her husband and son. "Once I found this beautiful space, I knew it was where I wanted to open the studio," she said.

Hot Power Yoga is located at 1438 Grafton Street in Worcester. The studio offers the first two weeks of unlimited yoga for only $25 as an introductory special.
