Patriotism has always been a foundational element of the United States. Our nation which gained its independence through a trying war, has repeatedly called upon its citizens to rise up to conquer challenges.
239 years ago a group of individuals gathered to jeopardize their lives by signing the Declaration of Independence. That act, they knew, made them enemies of the British Crown, but they believed that their dream of the United States was worth risking everything.
The challenges this nation has faced have taken many forms, and each state has answered in their own way. The figures below display the voter participation, military enlistment, and Volunteerism of each state.
