“Luckey” Featured at Cable Car Cinema Wednesday
Wednesday, October 06, 2010
You're going to want to change your plans.
The film begins in the aftermath of sculptor Tom Luckey's devastating fall through a window at age 65. Already a divided family, the Luckeys find themselves crossing delicate lines drawn long ago by divorce and remarriage while supporting Tom, fully paralyzed but with colorful personality intact, as he pursues building his biggest, most complicated sculpture yet at Boston Children’s Museum.
The ties that bind
Tom enlists the help of his son Spencer (who is appearing at the Cable Car for a Q&A after both showings) to build the sculpture and, as they try to forge a working relationship from a complex father-son relationship, both push for their own vision.
The film is an honest, transparent look at the dynamics of a family in crisis and a powerful portrait of an eccentric artist trying to create a new life in the wake of a devastating accident. To learn about the award-winning documentary and see a trailer, go the Web site, here.
Luckey screens twice tonight at Cable Car Cinema, 204 Main St, Providence, 6:30 and 8:30pm. Tickets $7.50, adult audience. Luckey is presented by the Providence Children's Museum, with promotional support from Kidoinfo.com.
