RISD Museum Announces Call for Video Submissions

Monday, May 16, 2011

The RISD Museum wants to discover you.

Your video, that is.

The museum is inviting RI artists to submit short works of single-channel video by June 10, to be considered for an outdoor Gallery Night screening called Open Call: Video Art.

"Video-based art is an accessible and powerful medium and we want to show more of it at the RISD Museum," said Sabrina Locks, Curatorial Assistant for Contemporary Art and organizer of the event. "The open call video program is a lively way to invite local participation and dialogue around the creative ideas and visions of those working in various forms of new media."

Anyone can submit a work of 15 minutes or less, regardless of age, location, artistic experience, or education. This about vision, not resume.

Ready for your big moment?

Requirements for submissions:

Single-channel video, DVD-transferred film, animation, and new media work will be considered.

The submission package must include:
    •    Immediately playable DVD; or .MOV file with the following specifications: Apple ProRes 422 codec; 16-bit linear PCM audio; 30 FPS frame rate; deinterlaced
    •    Short written statement and CV/resume or brief bio
    •    Email contact information

Those who submit materials will be notified in early July as to whether their works will be screened at the event, scheduled for Thursday, July 21, 9pm, at the Chace Center's Moore Terrace.

Submission are due Friday, June 10, 2011; materials will not be returned. Send submissions to:
