Worcester’s Bancroft Tower to Open for Three Sundays in October

Friday, October 02, 2015

One of Worcester's greatest landmarks is finally opening again. On Sunday, October 4, Bancroft Tower at Salisbury Park will reopen free of charge to the general public in celebration of this historical event and monument.

Built in 1900 by Stephen Salisbury III in honor of Worcester-born historian George Bancroft, the Bancroft Tower stands 56 feet high and is home to one of the best views that Worcester can offer.

In collaboration with Preservation Worcester, the Worcester Historical Museum, and the City of Worcester Parks, Recreation and Cemetery Department, Park Spirit of Worcester, Inc. will reopen the tower for three straight Sundays this month (October 4, 11 and 18) from 9:30 AM to 2 PM.

Historical displays created by Park Spirit and the Worcester Historical Museum will be on display as visitors make their way up the tower to the turret.

The event will take place weather permitting. Any cancelation will be posted on Park Spirit’s website and Facebook page early Sunday morning.
