District Attorney Early Announces Indictment of Worcester Man for August Murder

Monday, September 21, 2020

DA Joe Early

Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. announced on Monday that a 25-year-old Worcester man has been indicted for murder in a fatal shooting on Aug. 16 following a confrontation in front of the victim’s home.

A Worcester County grand jury handed up the indictments last week, charging Leroy L. Thompson Jr. of 26 Almont Ave., Apt.2, with murder, reckless endangerment, carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license and possession of ammunition without an FID card.

The indictments move the case to Worcester Superior Court where Thompson will be arraigned.

Joshua Lopez, 24, of 14 Claremont St., Worcester, died on Aug. 17 after being shot the day before while sitting in the backseat of a vehicle.

Thompson and occupants of that vehicle had argued over the payment of a restaurant bill before the shooting.
