Newsweek magazine has ranked the top 500 public high schools in America and two Central Massachusetts schools have made the list.
“Newsweek is dedicated to helping as many students and parents make informed decisions about education. Along these lines, we focus on public schools because they are generally accessible to all students. Public and private schools are different types of schools with different sets of requirements and would require a different methodology for ranking them,” wrote the magazine.
Massachusetts as a whole scored well and Boston Latin was ranked 28 in the U.S.
The Top Central Mass schools were Westborough High School which scored in the top 100 - ranking 95 in the U.S. and Nipmuc Regional ranked #466.
In total, Massachusetts placed 18 high schools in the Top 500.
