DA’s Community Outreach Team Busy in Classrooms Across Central MA

Thursday, September 10, 2015

Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.’s Community Outreach team is busy presenting prevention programs in classrooms all across Central Massachusetts.

Last week, the Community Outreach team reached a milestone of presentations made to 400,000 people since its creation in 2007.  With the new school year starting, DA Early has stressed Community Outreach programs as an effective tool in preventing crime.

“I have always said that I would much rather prevent a crime than have to solve one,” Early said. “Our Community Outreach programs are not only aimed at preventing criminal activity, but are also geared toward heading off risky behavior that can lead to problems. Our mission is to keep everyone safe.”

The Community Outreach team makes presentations on topics such as bullying, cyber-safety, teen dating/domestic violence, substance abuse and distracted driving.

The team also makes presentations to senior citzens and the general public.

The programs are all free. Schools and other groups can schedule a presentation by calling the District Attorney’s office at (508) 755-8601.
