NEW: Claros Officially Kicks-Off Campaign for State Rep

Wednesday, June 19, 2013

Single-mother and nurse Claros decides to "lead by example"

Today, in front of a room full of friends and family, long time Worcester resident Carol Claros officially announced her candidacy for MA State Representative.

“As a mother, I believe that it is important to lead by example. I want my daughter to grow up in our state and city where our elected officials are well respected. We need leadership at the State House that we can trust. That’s why today I am kicking off my campaign for State Representative,” said Claros.

Claros’ Decision to Run

Claros is a long time resident of Worcester. She is a nurse and single-mother.

“I am not running because I need a job. I have one. I am not running because I want to build a political resume. I am not a politician. I’m just a Worcester single mom who wants the state government to work for us not against us” said Claros. “We have seen too many scandals at the State House. We have seen too much wasting of our tax dollars. And we have experienced Boston politicians constantly grabbing more money out of our wallets. Enough is enough.”

Claros has lived in Worcester for the past 17 years. She is a graduate of Worcester’s North High School and received her certification as an LPN from Montachusett Regional Vocational Tech in Fitchburg. Professionally, Claros is a nurse at MCI-Concord Correctional Facility. Previously, she worked at Worcester’s Adcare Hospital helping people recover from drug addiction.

“Being a single mother I know about tight family budgets. Unlike legislators, we don’t get paid to drive to work. It is time for a Representative who will stand up for the taxpayers and honorably serve this district,” said Claros. During her speech Claros announced that she will not be taking per diems.

Former Worcester City Councilor Juan Gomez was the master ceremonies for the event.
“I am proud to stand here with Carol on her important night. She will make a terrific State Representative for the people of Worcester. You can count on Claros to put people ahead of politics,” said Gomez.
