Five Rhode Island communities are among the most liveable in the nation, according to Liveability.com. The Web site that showcases the best places in America to live released its newest list of the top 500 cities and towns throughout the United States. Not surprisingly, Rhode Island held its own against the big guns, featuring 5 communities among the comprehensive register. Although these communities fall in no particular order, the honor of inclusion in the list is still an achievement.

The Sox rally against Mariano Rivera again! Josh Reddick was the hero Sunday night in the 10th. Also, Boston's dominance over CC Sabathia this season is nothing new. Plus, a lot of MVP candidates were on display at Fenway over the weekend and Big Papi may be upset about something else!

This morning, the ABC show Good Morning America named Newport as one of the country's 10 Most Beautiful Places. “Considering all the beautiful places in our country, this is an amazing accolade," said Evan Smith, President and CEO of Newport's Convention & Visitors Bureau. "The Newport that people see today was crafted over 375 years. Credit should be given to the previous generations that helped shape, build and preserve this amazing city, as well as to its citizens today that are making their own contributions and signatures on this classic seaport community."

Forbes, US News & World Report, Kiplinger... the ratings giants have begun to release their annual lists of the “Best Colleges” and the “Best Buy Colleges”. Forbes was first this week, placing Williams College at #1 on their list of “Top Colleges”, followed by Princeton at #2 and West Point at #3. Harvard was snubbed with a #6 position and Yale came in at a lowly #14. Brown pulled in out of the top 20 at #21 (see GoLocalProv's coverage, here).
