Bruins Start Series with Canadians Tonight

Thursday, May 01, 2014

We now know when the heated rivalry between the Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens will resume as the schedule for their Eastern Conference Semifinal Series is now out. The league has yet to make it official only announcing Thursday night's game one.   However, GoLocalProv.com has learned through various reports that this will be the likely series schedule.  Here it is:

Game 1: Thursday May 1, 7:30PM – TD Garden, Boston, Mass.
Game 2: Saturday May 3, 12:30PM – TD Garden, Boston, Mass.
Game 3: Tuesday May 6, 7:00PM – Bell Centre, Montreal, QC
Game 4: Thursday May 8, 7:00PM – Bell Centre, Montreal, QC
Game 5 (if necessary): Saturday May 10, TBA – TD Garden, Boston, Mass.
Game 6 (if necessary): Monday May 12, 7:00PM – Bell Centre, Montreal, QC
Game 7 (if necessary): Wednesday May 14, TBA – TD Garden, Boston, Mass.

There had been much specuation about not only when this series would begin, but also what times games would be played.  For instance, many believed that Saturday night's game 2 would be a primetime game due to Hockey Night in Canada.  However, the league and NBC has elected to play the game at 12:30pm that day.

Despite finishing the season with the best record in the NHL, Boston went 1-3 against the Habs during the regular season including a shootout loss to Montreal in Boston.

There are rumors floating around that Habs goaltender Carey Price is less than 100% and has been receiving treatment for an undisclosed injury during this long layoff for Montreal.  Price's back-up Peter Budaj started 3 games against Boston this season going 2-1 against the B's with a 1.95 goals against average.

Needless to say, there is no love lost between these two franchises and their fans making for what should be an exciting series between two of the league's original six franchises.
