NEW: Brady Announces He is Leaving Patriots

Tom Brady is leaving the Patriots

With free agency a day away, Tom Brady announced that he is leaving the Patriots after 19 seasons and six Super Bowl titles. 

Brady made the announcement in a letter posted on his Facebook page. 

“Although my football journey will take place elsewhere, I appreciate everything that we have achieved and am grateful for our incredible team accomplishments,” said Brady in part of the post.

In a separate letter to fans, Brady adds, “I don’t know what my football future holds but it is time for me to open a new stage for my life and career. I thank you from the bottom of my heart and I will always love you and what we have shared.”

NFL free agency officially begins on Wednesday, March 18 at 4 p.m. 

Teams that are reportedly interesting in Brady include the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and LA Chargers.  

Brady With Patriots

In 19 seasons with the Patriots, Brady played in 285 games and threw for 74,571 yards and 541 touchdowns.

He led the Patriots to six Super Bowl titles and nine Super Bowl appearances.

Last season, Brady threw for 4,057 yards and 24 touchdowns, but also had eight interceptions. Helping the Patriots to a 12-4 overall record.

The Patriots lost in the first round of the playoffs to the Tennessee Titans.
