New England trailed Houston 3-2 with time winding down when Daigo Kobayashi tied the game on a header in extra time to give the Revs a season opening point.
The Revolution led the game for the majority of the first half after Diego Fagundez scored in the third minute.
However, Houston's Cristian Maidana tied the game just before the half and Andrew Wenger gave Houston a 2-1 lead at the 50 minute mark.
The Revolution would tie the game 2 on a Charlie Davis goal in the 52 minute before Dynamo would again pull in front 3-2 on a Giles Barnes goal in the 77th minute of action.
