When it rains, it pours!  The undermanned Boston Red Sox lost another key player last night in Tampa when  Kevin Youkilis  left the game in the fourth inning with an apparent leg injury.  You would think that the rash of injuries to key players will eventually catch up to this team.  Or should we expect the Daniel Nava’s, Eric Patterson’s and Darnell McDonald’s of the world to continue to carry the load as this team tries to hang with the Yankees in the American League East?

-The All-Star break couldn’t come at a better time for the Red Sox.

-Another former Friar coach is in hot water.  Former Seton Hall head coach and PC assistant Bobby Gonzalez was arrested on charges of shoplifting at a New Jersey mall.

-He hasn’t even played a game in New York yet and I already feel bad for Amare Stoudemire.  If LeBron does not sign with the Knicks, he will always represent what the franchise didn’t get in free agency.

-However, shed no tears for Stoudemire.  His 5-year deal worth about 100 million dollars should be enough to ease his pain.

-Speaking of LeBron, can he just pick a damn team and be done with it?

-Shaq to the Celtics?  No thanks!

-I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, it’s strange to see Tiger play like an average, middle of the pack PGA Tour golfer.

-Not that Elin minds.

-LeBron stays in Cleveland and Chris Bosh joins him there is the latest rumor if you’re keeping track.

-Former Brown and Penn coach Glenn Miller has been hired by UConn as director of men’s basketball administration.

-Michael Vick’s “people” can say whatever they want but the fact that Quanis Phillips – a co-defendant in the federal dogfighting case was there and got shot will do nothing good for the Eagles quarterback.

-Injuried or not, Tom Brady’s on the field performance in 2009 was very good all things considered.  It was his lack of vocal leadership that bothered me.

-Raise your hand if you thought that David Ortiz would be an All Star after hitting .143 with 1 homerun and 4 RBI’s in the month of April.

-If you’re wondering how soccer fans in other countries like Brazil are taking being ousted from the World Cup, just remember what it was like when the Patriots lost Super Bowl 42 to the New York Giants.

-Word is that Wes Welker may very well be ready for the start of the 2010 season.
