Girl Scouts’ ‘Fork It Over’ Event Coming to Worcester Next Month

Monday, January 26, 2015

On Thursday, February 26, the Girl Scouts of Central Massachusetts will be hosting their annual 'Fork It Over' event at the Beechwood Hotel. The event is a kickoff to National Cookie Weekend.

The event is a combination fundraiser and culinary competition. Area chefs are invited to create an appetizer or a dessert inspired by Girl Scout Cookies.

"The chefs compete for the Best in Sweet and Best in Savory award, both from the Judges Choice and the People’s Choice. Our 'celebrity' judges this year are: Barbara Houle from the Telegram and Gazette, City Manager Ed Augustus, MassLive Reporter Lindsay Corcoran, and Director of Sales for Mechanics Hall, Diana Casavecchia," said Melanie Bonsu, Fund Development Manager for Girl Scouts of Western and Central Massachusettts.

Chefs participating this year are from 7Nana, Café Reyes, Ceres Bistro, Eller’s Restaurant, Fitzwilliam Inn, Niche Hospitality, Peppercorns, Pepper’s, The Publick House, Twigs Café at Tower Hill Botanic Garden, and Vintage Grille.

The event is expected to bring 200 attendees. All attendees will receive a cookbook with the events recipes. There is also a silent auction and raffle. Tickets are $30 a piece or 2 for $50 if purchased by February 20. All funds raised will support leadership programming for more than 10,000 girls in the Western and Central Massachusetts Girl Scouts program.
