Fresh Local Food for Thanksgiving in Central MA

Friday, November 21, 2014

This Thanksgiving, get out to your local farm and prepare your holiday meal with fresh, local food that doesn't come from a grocery freezer.

Here are 10 great places in Central Massachusetts where you can find fresh turkeys, in-season produce, and decadent desserts to bring home to your family this holiday season.

Worcester and the surrounding towns have a wealth of knowledgeable farmers and distributors who want fresh, locally sourced food to be standard at your table.

“It's all about the connectedness to your community and building local resilience," says Josh Cohen, Co-Manager at All Things Local Cooperative. "We’re  part of the 'local-vore' movement - knowing your farmer, knowing where your food comes from, and knowing your food is a big part of why I enjoy working here. I get to meet my farmer and the food is as fresh as can be because it's as close as can be."

Eating locally helps to grow our local economy while giving you piece of mind about the quality of your food.

This season, find a local distributor or grower of locally sourced food in your neighborhood and enjoy supporting your community this Thanksgiving.
