URI Eco-Exploration
URI’s Eco-Exploration Program takes children on a trip to the tropics, the desert and the rainforest—all within the confines of the Botanical Center—to learn about environmental science. They will have the chance to feel a coyote’s fur, learn to compost with red wiggler worms, feed a Venus flytrap, and plant seeds in their own greenhouse that they can take home. The two-hour program is offered on Feb. 22 and 24 at 10am and costs $8 per child and $5 per adult.
Yoga Dance Story Time at URI is a program for parents and their children on Friday, Feb. 25 at 10am that uses yoga postures, hand gestures, facial expressions and dance movements to tell a story. Trees, rocks, lions and butterflies will be depicted through yoga postures, roaring sounds, and songs. Taught by certified yoga instructor Shanthi Muthu, the program costs $15 for one parent and child. Space is limited. For more information or to register for the programs, email [email protected] or call (401) 874-2900.
