Speaking of Newport, hot comedian Louis CK was in town this weekend as well playing to sold-out crowds at the Newport Yachting Center. CK's critically accaimed show, Louie, just got renewed by FX for a third season, so he might have had an extra spring in his step (he tweeted the news from Newport). Reports were that he enjoyed a boatride on the water with his daughters before his back-to-back Saturday shows, and tucked in at the Hyatt while in
And before he shows up in Providence to be honored by the Rhode Island International Film Festival with a Lifetime Achievement Award on Thursday, Goodfellas star Paul Sorvino was spotted shopping on Thames Street in Newport. Hope he wasn't picking up any decorative art, as Sorvino will leave Providence with a hand-blown and carved glass award designed by Providence-born glass artist and sculptor Anthony Cioe. Sorvino will accept his accolades and rub elbows up on... where else?... Federal Hill at D'Vine's Restaurant. Then it'll be off to Vet's to screen his latest film, Lily of the Feast.
He came, he ate, and tonight, you can watch it all. The Travel Channel’s show Man V. Food, featuring crazy-eating host Adam Richman, filmed in the Ocean State
There was running, rocking, and rolling in rainy Providence on Sunday morning. Providence’s first ever Rock and Roll Marathon got the city awake early and kept it up as the
In other sporting news, one of the premier men’s professional billiards tours was in Providence this weekend. The Seminole Pro Tour made its third stop of the season at Snookers Pool Lounge and featured 64 of the world’s biggest names in pool, including Alex Pagulayan, Thorston Hohmann, and Darren Appleton. The tournament streamed live on the Seminole Pro Tour’s Web site, so fans could tune in live to see Shane van Boening take first place, and $10,000 in prize money. Some of the players stayed in Providence, while others stayed at the La Quinta Inn in Warwick. You don’t need a magic eight ball to know that the pool pros enjoyed their time in the Ocean State…
Now that the show is over, Bristol girl Jackie Gordon can tell all about her experience as a contestant on ABC’s 15th season of The Bachelor. “Nice girl” Jackie, who grew up in Warwick and now lives in New York, said that being on a reality show changes you more than you’d expect. She never fell in love with “the bachelor” Brad Womack, although she’s still friendly with many of the other girls from the show. She was eliminated in the sixth episode, but that doesn’t mean her “Bachelor” life is over. She is one of the contestants on the second season of The Bachelor Pad, which just premiered Monday night. She is competing, along with other eliminated Bachelor and Bachelorette contestants, for $250,000, and she’s off to a good start, winning the first challenge along with former Bachelor Jake Pavelka. Keep tuning in to see if Jackie can find love and success her second time around on TV…
