The names of the drivers involved in the two-vehicle crash on the Mass Pike Monday morning have been revealed by Massachusetts State Police. One driver was pronounced dead on the scene, and another suffered serious injury.

According to Mass. State Police, 22-year-old Meaghan Noel of Taunton was a driver of a Honda Element traveling eastbound on the Pike. For unknown reasons, the Element went out of control and crossed over to the westbound side and crashed into a tractor-trailer. The tractor-trailer then crossed into the eastboudn lanes.

Noel was ejected from her vehicle and died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. 52-year-old Sandra Debonis of Warren, Rhode Island was extricated from her tractor-trailer and was transported by life flight to UMass Medical Center in Worcester.

The accident occured near the Warren and Brimfield town lines at the 67 mile-marker.

East and westbound lanes were closed for nearly two hours following the crash. The accident is still under investigation by the Mass. State Police and other local law enforcement.
