NEW: Worcester to Get Piled On with 8 or More Inches of Snow

According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Storm Watch is in effect in Worcester from Saturday night into late Monday night. NWS expects at least another eight inches of snow to fall over a 24 hour period. 

Less than two weeks, Worcester was hit with 33.5 inches in the worst storm in the city's history. Since then, two substantial snowfalls have occured leaving Worcester absolutely covered in snow.

WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM LATE SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH LATE MONDAY NIGHT... THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TAUNTON HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WATCH...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM LATE SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH LATE MONDAY NIGHT.

* LOCATIONS...INCLUDE AREAS OF MASSACHUSETTS NORTH OF THE CONNECTICUT AND RHODE ISLAND BORDER.

* HAZARD TYPES...SNOW.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...OF 8 OR MORE INCHES ARE POSSIBLE WITHIN A 24-HOUR PERIOD.

* TIMING...OCCASIONAL LIGHT SNOW WILL DEVELOP LATE SATURDAY NIGHT INTO SUNDAY...BECOMING MODERATE AND SOMETIMES HEAVY LATE SUNDAY NIGHT INTO LATE MONDAY NIGHT.

* IMPACTS...HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS CAN BE EXPECTED DURING THIS LONG DURATION EVENT.

* WINDS...NORTH TO NORTHEAST 5 TO 15 MPH WITH GUSTS OF AROUND 25 MPH.

* TEMPERATURES...HIGHS AROUND THE 20S. LOWS AROUND THE TEENS.

* VISIBILITIES...BELOW 1 MILE AT TIMES IN AREAS OF MODERATE SNOW.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A WINTER STORM WATCH IS ISSUED FOR THE POTENTIAL OF ACCUMULATING SNOW OF 6 OR MORE INCHES IN A 12 HOUR PERIOD...OR 8 OR MORE INCHES IN A 24 HOUR PERIOD. ANYONE TRAVELING IN THE NEXT 24 TO 36 HOURS SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE PREPARED TO MODIFY TRAVEL PLANS SHOULD WINTER WEATHER DEVELOP.
