Secretary of Commonwealth Offering Free Tours at State House

Tuesday, August 25, 2015

Senator Michael O. Moore (D-Millbury) is encouraging area residents to take a free tour of the Massachusetts State House.

The tours are being offered by the Secretary of the Commonwealth's office and are led by knowledgeable guides.

“The building is more than just the center of State Government, it’s a living museum,” said Senator Moore. “Tours include visits to the Senate and House chambers, the State Library and many other historic areas of the building.”

The John F. Kennedy statue outside the front of the state house was restored earlier this year and is now available for viewing through October. The statue had been barred since September 11, 2001.

Free tours are available weekdays from 10:00AM to 3:30PM and last approximately 30-45 minutes. Those who are unable to visit the State House in person may access a virtual tour of the building on the Legislature’s website, https://malegislature.gov/VirtualTour. To schedule a tour, you may call Sen. Moore’s State House Office at (617) 722-1485 or the tours desk directly at (617) 727-3676.
