Whitinsville Christian High School Recognizes National Merit Commended Student

Whitinsville Christian High School senior Elena Wassenar has been named a Commended Student in the 2014 National Merit Scholarship Competition.

Wassenar joins 34,000 top scorers nationwide to receive this distinction based on here performance on the 2013 PSAT. Although Commended Students do not continue in the scholarship competition, they nonetheless place among the top five percent of scorers nationwide.

Wassenar is a member of the National Honor Society and serves as a a senior class officer.

She also participates in cross country, basketball, tennis, drama, environmental club, and pink ribbon club.

In addition, Wassenar is an involved member of the Mass. Youth Leadership Foundation.

Wassenar is preparing a Senior Capstone project to initiate a middle school club that will  emphasize jobs in fields related to STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math).
