slides: Worcester City Councilors: See Their Attendance + Voting Records

Thursday, July 11, 2013

Which of Worcester's City Councilors were the worst when it came to absences and missing votes? Which were the best? GoLocalWorcester's investigation into the absences and voting records of Worcester's City Councilors involved painstaking reviews of meeting agendas posted online by the city, as the city does not compile the data itself.

Reviewing meetings held in the most recent City Council term that began January 1, 2012, through June 18, 2013, GoLocalWorcester researchers tabulated attendance and tardies as recorded and posted by the City Clerk. Total items requiring council approval were counted (votes on procedure within an item were not tallied), yielding a total of 941 votes.

For example, an agenda item requesting signage be changed for 13 named intersections (with separate roll calls recorded for each intersection's vote) was counted as 13 votes.

See who was present, and who wasn't, in the slides below.
