The New England Patriots have signed kicker Mike Nugent, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Nugent will replace Stephen Gostkowski, who was placed on injured reserve on Wednesday, as GoLocal reported.

Schefter adds that the Patriots are also signing former Chargers kicker Younghoe Koo to their practice squad.

About Nugent

Nugent, 35, has played for seven teams since being drafted by the New York Jets in the second-round of the 2005 NFL draft.

However, he has played in only 11 games over the last two seasons between the Chicago Bears, Dallas Cowboys, and Oakland Raiders.

During that span, he converted 17 of 19 field goals and 19 of 22 extra points.

Over his career, Nugent has converted 253 of 311 field goals and 363 of 377 extra points in 164 games.

By comparison, Gostkowski is 374 for 428 on field goals and 653 for 664 on extra points in 204 career games.
