Nguyen & Agudelo Called Up For National Team Duty

Monday, April 13, 2015

Juan Agudelo is back with the U.S. Men's National Team

The New England Revolution just played on Saturday afternoon, and do not play again as a team until Sunday. Two of their players will be in action before then, however, as Lee Nguyen and Juan Agudelo were called up to U.S. Men’s National Team duty, Sunday.

Nguyen has become a regular call up for National Team coach Jurgen Klinsmann, but Agudelo received his first call up since March of 2014. Agudelo received his 18th cap in that match and will likely get his 19th this week against Mexico.

“It was a very nice email,” Agudelo said when asked how he found out he was being called up to the National Team.

Both players traveled to Texas on Sunday to join the National Team and partake in training before Wednesday’s friendly against Mexico.

“It was a lot of emotions,” Agudelo said when asked about getting recalled after a long professional layoff. “[I am] very grateful and very happy to be back. It’s something that I’ve thought about the past year.”

When asked about any advice he had received from fellow National Team players and teammates Lee Nguyen and Jermaine Jones, Agudelo said, “Just be prepared to run.”
