Benjamin Angoua scored his first career MLS goal and the New England Revolution cruised past first place Toronto FC 3-0 on Saturday night at Gillette Stadium.

The win is New England’s first since May 21 and improves them to 5-5-5 on the season.

Toronto, who falls to 8-2-5, had not lost a game since April 15 and had an eight-match unbeaten streak. They were also shut out for the first time since March 31.

Revs Take Control

The Revolution took control of the game early.

In the 17th minute, Angoua headed a corner kick by Lee Nguyen into the net to put the Revolution up 1-0 in the match. They would take that lead into the locker room at the half.

In the second, Juan Agudelo dropped a pass to Diego Fagundez at the top of the box, who blasted it inside the post to give the Revolution a 2-0 advantage in the 66th minute.

Agudelo would add a goal of his own in the 88th minute to put New England up 3-0, the score they would go on to win by.

Next up

The Revolution return to action on Wednesday, June 14 when they face the Rochester Rhinos in the fourth round of the U.S. Open Cup.

The match will be played at Providence College’s Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium.

Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
