Former Federal Official to Give Lecture at Clark

Dan Sichel, a former senior official at the U.S. Treasury and Federal Reserve will present “The Financial Crisis, the Great Recession, and the Long Road Back" at Clark University on October 23 at 7 p.m. in the Jefferson Academic Center, Room 320.

Sichel is also a professor of economics at Wellesley College. Sichel joined the faculty at Wellesley after working for the Federal Reserve Board in Washington, D.C. 

At the Federal Reserve, Sichel was part of the senior management team that provided analytic support to Chairman Bernanke, other members of the Federal Reserve Board, and the FOMC.  He worked on a range of macroeconomic issues, including helping to guide the Fed’s forecast and analysis of the U.S. economy. He also served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Macroeconomic Policy at the U.S. Treasury Department.  

Sichel also authored “The Computer Revolution,” a book that analyzes the relationship between information technology and economic growth, while working as a research associate at the Brookings Institution.  Sichel is a member of the Executive Committee of the Conference on Research in Income and Wealth, a group administered by the National Bureau of Economic Research that brings together academics and practitioners working on economic measurement.

This event is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by the Francis A. Harrington Public Affairs Fund through the Department of Political Science and the Economics Department.
