Fruitlands Museum to Celebrate Harvest Festival This Weekend

Tuesday, October 06, 2015

Fruitlands Museum in Harvard will be celebrating their Annual Harvest Weekend this weekend filled with activities fun for the whole family.

On Saturday and Sunday, from 12 to 4 PM, Fruitlands will host activities such as a pop-up farm stand featuring produce and livestock from Springdell Farm; sheep, goats, and chickens raised by members of the Wekepeke 4-H Club of Lancaster; a beekeeping demonstration and observation hives hosted by representatives of Worcester County Beekeepers Association; refreshments provided by Carlson Orchards; art-making activities like vegetable prints and lavender sachets; and old-fashioned games.

Visitors to Harvest Weekend will also have the chance to try local fruits and vegetables and to sip on switchel - a tonic made of water and vinegar with ginger and honey often drank by farmers during hay season.

The event is free with museum admission.
