Guest MINDSETTER™ Joe Herman: To My Wife, On Our Wedding Day

Saturday, August 22, 2015

On Saturday evening, Danielle Jenkins of Marlborough will be be marrying Worcester native Joseph Herman. The wedding will be held at Worcester's Union Station ball room.

They met at a bar in Worcester in 2013 and instantly hit off. To read more about Danielle and Joe's story, visit DanielleandJoeswedding.com.

Joe asked GoLocalWorcester to publish the letter to Danielle for three reasons: (1)So that he could surprise her, (2)To show that young love still exists, and (3)to prove to all the single people that true love can still be found in Worcester.

Here is Joe's letter to Danielle:

I get married today and my soon to be wife and I decided to write letters that we would open up on our one year and five year anniversary. Now, while I’ve done that part I felt the desire to do something a little more public. So this is my letter of promises, something that you can check on from time to time and read whenever you want. Of course, the only catch is, so can everyone else. With that being said, here we go.

These are my promises to you in marriage, in no particular order:

I promise…

To always be faithful

To always be your best friend

To listen

To be there

To try not to get frustrated

To be patient

To make you laugh

To make you feel special

To make you feel like the most important person in the room

To never take you for granted

To help you if you need it, and ask for it if I do

To be the best partner in all aspects of life, as a parent, a spouse, a roommate and friend

To love you unconditionally

To be supportive

To be the best person I can be, because you are the best person I know.

Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, let me tell you all WHY I feel the need to promise these things. These promises are what I know I am already getting in return, and the least I can do is reciprocate.

Here are some of the reasons why I am marrying her:

Her thoughtfulness

Her unconditional love

Her sense of humor

Her family values

How beautiful she is

Her smile

That she can laugh at herself

That she is a great mom

She is selfless

Her perfect imperfections

She sees my flaws and looks past them

When she believes in something, she believes with all her heart

The way she looks at me

And maybe most importantly, she puts up with me

I love this woman more than any other person I have ever loved before, of course there are other people in my life that I love like my daughter, my stepson, my parents, my family, my friends… But no one holds a candle to her, she makes me want to be better. She has made my relationships with all those I love, better. She makes me strive to be a person whom I believe is worthy of the love she gives me. My life always felt like there was something missing, I always felt one step behind of where I thought I should be. But now, I feel like I am exactly where I am supposed to be, and headed towards exactly where I want to be… So, this is my thank you to you, Danielle Daisy Jenkins (Soon to be Danielle Daisy Herman), you have given me so much in our time together. You have given me a daughter, a son, a wife, a best friend, and most importantly you have given me the ability to love someone more than myself. You are that person, and if I have it my way, you always will be. Thank you, I love you.

Love always,

Your soon to be husband

Joseph Michael Herman
