See Providence through new eyes on a trolley tour! Photo: visitcapemay/flickr

Moms of little ones—from toddlers to elementary schoolers—looking for fun things to do during the week? Creative spots for last-minute outings? Fun events especially for little ones? We'll bring you our 5 favorites in the region every Tuesday, and they're all within an hour's drive of home. Check out this week's fun!

Ride!

Although you and the little ones may have lived in Providence for your whole lives, there is something special about seeing the city from the inside of a trolley! Kids will love the red trolley cars and narrators that will give them (and you!) the inside scoop of Providence’s past. Trolley season ends October 31, so make sure you get a ride in before you have to wait ‘til next year! Trolley Tours of Providence, Corner of Fountain and Eddy Streets, Providence. (401) 421-3825.

Explore!

The Museum of Natural History at Harvard University invites you to explore the beauty of New England forests! Children will get a chance to see the visual face of the research of 3 research museums; the Museum of Comparative Zoology, the Harvard University Herbaria, and the Mineralogical and Geological Museum. Kids will become fascinated by the many exhibits on display! Harvard Museum of Natural History, 26 Oxford Street, Cambridge. (617) 495-3045.

Trampolines!

Take the little ones to Sky Zone Indoor Trampoline Park in Westborough for hopping fun! The whole place is trampoline-ized—even the walls! There is a “foam zone,” open jump session and so much more! Perfect for toddlers is “Toddler Time,” which  ensures a fun and safe environment for pint-sized kiddos on Fridays from 10am-12pm! 290 Turnpike Road, Westborough. (508) 870-5867.

Airplanes!

Kids have long been fascinated with things that fly. This week, why don’t you get out of the house and take a trip to the Quonset Air Museum in North Kingstown? They’ve got historic aircraft, an awesome history and of course PLENTY of photo-ops! Your little ones will not want to leave, but with new exhibitions springing up regularly, you will have plenty of reason to go back! The Quonset Air Museum, 488 Eccleston Ave., North Kingstown. (401) 294-9540.

Play!

Head out to the Great Escape Playcafé in Leominster this week for some plain and simple fun! Kids 8 and under are invited to play on the jungle gym, explore activity centers and use all of the facility’s toys! There is also an adult-friendly coffee house on site so that moms can gather and chat over a hot beverage. Also check out their classes, which include yoga and more! The Great Escape Playcafé, 21 Sack Blvd., Leominster. (978) 227-5886.
