School districts across Central Massachusetts will lose out on a combined $36 million this fiscal year to charter school tuition payments.

A GoLocalWorcester analysis of data from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and a review of the FY2016 cost and aid projections for charter schools and the school districts they reside in shows that Worcester will pay more than $22 million in local charter school tuition payments over the course of the next fiscal year.
The 29 school districts listed below will be reimbursed only $4.4 million in tuition re-payments and facility payments from the Commonwealth - only a 12% return on their state-mandated charter school funding.
