Keefe Takes Worcester’s 15th District Primary
Tuesday, September 09, 2014
A tough battle was expected between Keefe – the incumbent – and Worcester City Councilor Palmieri but voting shows a wide margin of votes with Keefe’s 1338 to Palmieri’s 845. Additionally, Ralph Perez collected 182 votes in the race.
Keefe will likely continue to a second term in the 15th district because there is currently no Republican opposition beyond the primary.
A large hurdle that Keefe had to overcome was a rash of criticism after her initial reluctance to vote in favor of ousting Democratic Dorchester Rep Carlos Henriquez after he was convicted of beating a woman.
Most striking among the three candidates and their spending habits was Perez who didn’t raise or spend a single dollar, according to campaign finance reports.
