UPDATE: Worcester Is Back as #1 Snowiest City in the United States

Monday, February 23, 2015

Worcester is back on top of snow mountain and has a six inch lead over Lowell as the Snowiest City in America. According to Goldensnowglobe.com, Worcester has received more than 109 inches of snow this winter. Lowell is in second with nearly 104 inches.

On Thursday, GoLocal Worcester reported that Lowell had slipped past Worcester by 1/10 of an inch. However, following Saturday night's snow storm, Worcester added six inches of snow and took the lead.

With still a week left in the month of February, Worcester has already broke its February record. With 47.8 inches of snow in the first 15 days this month, Worcester has seen nearly 55 inches of snow. According to the U.S. National Weather Service, the previous record was 45.2 inches.

Patrick DeCoursey, owner of Goldensnowglobe.com, said "Worcester, Boston and all of the MA cities are impressing me by the way they are pretty much the bulls eye of all the storms coming through.  Worcester is almost always in the contest along with the New York cities like Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse and with Erie, Pa too.  I never count them out but because of the slow season they started out with I pretty much didn't think they would be in the running this season.  Wow was I wrong. What a difference three weeks and several snowstorms make."

Here is the UPDATED Top Ten Snowiest Cities in America:

1. Worcester, MA - 109.4 Inches

2. Lowell, MA - 103.9 inches

3. Syracuse, NY - 101.3 inches

4. Buffalo, NY - 101.1 inches

5. Boston, MA - 99.9 inches

6. Erie, PA - 97.5  inches

7. Rochester, NY - 85.1 inches

8. South Bend, IN- 75.5 inches

9. Grand Rapids, MI - 73.3 inches

10. Cleveland, OH - 58.3 inches
